EL PINCHE GRABADOR

It is said that engraving is the kitchen of art, and "pinche" means a person who provides auxiliary services in the kitchen; I started as an assistant to a Guanajuato engraver, hence "elpinchagrabador."

As an engraver, he has worked with various traditional techniques. Within his portfolio, he covers themes from Mexican popular culture with its skeletons to bestiaries, but he is currently exploring the diverse stages of the human condition through its face and abstract spirituality.

He is originally from the city of Guanajuato Capital, his first great passion was drawing, and at the age of 18, he discovered the craft of engraving. Impressed by such a technique and its possibilities, he decided to adopt it as his standard and way of life, exploring and practicing it daily. After finishing his university studies, he embarked on a journey that took him to the cities of Nayarit, Mazatlán, and Baja California Sur, with the sole objective of dedicating himself to this beautiful craft. He had the opportunity to sell his prints on streets, boardwalks, art fairs, and any available place, which enriched his artistic spirit and introduced him to the real art market. In 2013, he returned to his place of origin where he opened his first workshop-gallery, in which he continues to work to this day.

Over time, he has inaugurated his own galleries in the city of Guanajuato, San Miguel de Allende, and Oaxaca, as well as collaborations in graphic portfolios with other workshops, and invitations to collective and individual exhibitions in national and international museums and galleries, all thanks to the self-management of the daily work done in the “elpinchegrabador” workshop-gallery.
